Week of Archaeology in Honor of 1st Anniversary of New Building of Archaeological Museum in Skopje

A "Week of Archaeology' event is to take place on October 18­-25 in honor of the first anniversary of the new building of the Archaeological Museum and its 91st birthday.


The event will be formally opened Monday evening with the exhibit '10 Pillars of the Archaeological Museum', which will present exclusive artifacts, including the sculpture the Great Goddess Mother from Tumba Madzari (the most significant Neolithic settlement in Skopje valley), monumental belt found in Marvinci, terracotta icons from Vinica and many other findings.

Over 8,000 artifacts are being displayed at the Archaeological Museum at the moment and their number is growing as a result of numerous archaeological excavations, supported by the Government and the Ministry of Culture.
