A total of 62171 tourists visited Macedonia in the first quarter of 2015, mainly coming from Serbia, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria and Albania, says the State Statistical Office.
The number of tourists in period January-March compared to the same period last year increased by 4.6%. The number of domestic tourists decreased by 8.4%, while that of foreign tourists increased by 14%.
In the same period, the number of nights spent decreased by 0.7%. The number of nights spent by domestic tourists decreased by 12.4%, whereas those by foreign tourists increased by 9.6%.
The number of tourists in March was 36160, and the number of nights spent by tourists was 75150.
The number of tourists in March compared to the same month in 2014 decreased by 0.4%, and the number of nights spent decreased by 4.5%.
The number of domestic tourists in March compared to the same month last year decreased by 13.5%, while the number of foreign tourists increased by 8.0%.
The number of nights spent by domestic tourists in March decreased by 13.0%, whereas the number of nights spent by foreign tourists increased by 1.8%.
