International Paragliding Competition in Prilep

Starting Saturday, Prilep will host this weekend the first competition in paragliding "Prilep Open 2014".

The two-day competition that is to be held at the take off point Treskavec will be attended by 50 pilots from the Balkans that will demonstrate their capabilities for precision landing.

The competition, as announced, will be opened by the Mayor of Prilep Marjan Ristovski and the US Ambassador Paul Wohlers. Cup organizers are sports clubs Skyriders and Delta, the City of Prilep and USAID.


With this paragliding competition, Prilep closes the season of organizing extreme sports. So far races have been held in motocross, mountain biking and bouldering.

“Thus way Prilep established itself as a center of extreme sports that attract world athletes and tourists,” said Mayor Ristevski.

If weather conditions are bad, the competition will be opened on Treskavec, and then moved to the take off point Meckin Kamen - East near the town of Krusevo.

The take off point at Treskavec was recently renovated with new equipment as an Meteorological Station, inspection frames for paragliders, information board, covered gazebo areas and signposts provided by USAID and the City of Prilep.
