Macedonia has the best airport infrastructure among all countries of the former Yugoslavia

Macedonia has the best airport infrastructure among all countries of the former Yugoslavia. The World Economic Forum published the report Travel & Tourism Competitiveness, which compares and ranks 141 countries in the world. The report is published every two years and compares 14 themes out of which transport is one, writes exyuaviation.

The report of 2015 states that the country has the highest quality airport infrastructure among all countries of the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Kosovo are not part of the report).


Macedonia is ranked 59th in the world according to the infrastructure of airports with average score of 4.7 (scores range from 1 to 7 for the worst of the best countries).

After Macedonia follow Slovenia at 67 position, Montenegro at 74 position, Croatia at 76 position. Serbia noted decline on the list and is now is at 111 position.


The best infrastructure in the world is noted at airports in Singapore, then the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong.

Recently Skopje airport was announced for the ninth best in Eastern Europe.

It was announced for the best airport and through which pass up to two million passengers per year in 2013 and 2014 in Europe.

Alexander the Great Airport has capacity of 4 million passengers. It has six bridges. The investment, worth 110 million euro was launched in 2011. It is managed by the Turkish company TAV.
