Tourists from Greece will flock to Ohrid for Easter, as tens of buses are expected to arrive over the holidays.
Hoteliers say around 80 percent of the accommodation capacities have been booked so far. People from Bulgaria, Albania and Montenegro will also visit Macedonia’s tourism hub, Radio Free Europe reports.
“During the upcoming Easter holidays, tourists from neighboring countries, mainly Montenegro, Bulgaria and Turkey are expected. They have booked hotels rooms for the weekend,” Pero Kutanoski, Hotel Granit manager says.
He says the offer includes an Easter menu, field trips, sightseeing of the city’s monuments and churches.
“More tourists are expected after 1 May. The hotel is about 80% booked by the end of September. On 9 May, tourists from the Netherlands usually come to visit, whereas on 11 May, Belgians are the most frequent guests,” Kutanoski says.
Ljupco Juzmeski, a travel guide, says guests will be offered sightseeing of the more important historical sites and monuments.
“The Old City, Plaoshnik, Kaneo, St Sofia church are among the sites. We also visit St.Naum, the water museum and other churches,” he says.
