Tourist market in Macedonia has stabilised. There are no cancellations of bookings and on the contrary the number of reservations has been increased, said Director of the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism Kristijan Dzambazovski.
Dzambazovski said that the results in the first quarter of 2015 are positive. The number of foreign tourists in the period January-March 2015 compared to the same period last year is increased by 14% and the number of nights spent is also increased by 9.6%.
While there is turbulence in the political sphere, tourism is the first to feel the negative effects, and they further reflect on the entire economy, Dzambazovski said expressing confidence that there will be no new turbulences in tourism.
Since the start of the year we have presented tourist potentials at 15 international tourism fairs which were attended by 25 travel agents and tour operators from Macedonia which is a prove that quality i.e. competitiveness of the supply is increased. We continue with aggressive media campaign as well as organisation of study visits and informative trips in the country whereat tour operators from US, Russia, Sweden, and France have the opportunity to learn about country’s tourist potential, Dzambazovski said.
The largest number of tourists in the first months of 2015 mainly came from Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey.
The Italian motorcycle magazine Motociclismo will present Macedonia of at least 40 pages and will also prepare high quality video promoting our country at the international motorcycle exhibition in Milan.
Dzambazovski said that Italian travel agencies are ready to include Macedonia in their catalogues and following Aliverti motorbike tour, the recommended programme for visit to all Macedonian towns, visited by motor bikers, will be presented.
Motociclismo is among the world’s leading magazines in this area, with a monthly circulation of 160 thousand copies. The website has over 1 million visitors a month and Facebook accounts 270 thousand followers. The YouTube channel Motociclismo guest celebrities include motorcycling champion Valentino Rossi.
