Skopje, 2 April 2015 (MIA) - In the next six years the Balkan region, including Macedonia, is going to be a top destination for tourists from Japan and South Korea. Macedonia has already taken its place on the tourist map of Australia, Canada, Israel, Germany, the Netherlands...the Association of Incoming Travel Agencies in Macedonia (ATA DM) Director, Aleksandar Konevski, said Thursday at the annual assembly of the organization, which celebrates its first anniversary.
In the next six to 10 years many tourists will visit the Balkans, seeing the region as a rather attractive destination, Konevski said, presenting the results of the ATA DM activity.
Since its establishment, ATA DM has realized 46,000 overnight stays, participated in fairs in London, Berlin, Rimini, Cologne..., and gotten in touch with tour operators from Australia and Asia, he added.
"Our goal is to unite agencies dealing with incoming tourism in order to advance the services and harmonize the prices," Konevski said.
ATA DM mainly offers tours that are being realized with other countries in the region, which cover a visit to Macedonia (Skopje and Ohrid), Budva (Montenegro); Dubrovnik (Croatia), Sarajevo (Bosnia/Herzegovina) and Belgrade (Serbia).
This year bikers from Canada, Israel and the Netherlands will enjoy the tracks of Galica and Sara mountains, Konevski said, pointing out that ATA DM is considering to include mountain bike trips in its offer.
