Macedonian wines are among the best worldwide but the country must work on their promotion more aggressively, as well as on sound marketing and branding, Agriculture Minister Mihail Cvetkov told reporters on Saturday.
The minister attended the symbolic pruning of grape wines for Tikves Winery, which celebrates the St. Tryphon holiday, the protector of vineyards.
This year, the Government has earmarked EUR 500,000 for the promotion of Macedonia wines mainly in the EU, Russia, China and US markets, Cvetkov added.
This year, the largest winery in Macedonia – Tikves – is observing its 130th anniversary. Production of wines and the promotion of Macedonian wine industry across the world continue to be the winery’s priorities, Tikves CEO, Igor Ilievski said.
