The two young Israelis, Dror and Jara from Jerusalem, have come to Macedonia on a two-seat bike. They are going to stay in the country for seven days, as their ultimate goal is Ohrid, the town they have heard many nice things about, including being the center of the Orthodox world, daily Utrinski has learnt.
"We came to visit Macedonia because it is a special place. We could have gone to France or anywhere else, but we decided to come here and see Ohrid. We have heard many things about the people here too, everything is wonderful here," Dror told the media outlet.
He and his girlfriend Jara are students. They arrived in Sofia by plane, but to travel to Macedonia and across, they are using a two-seat bicycle. Then they will board a ship in Igoumenitsa, Greece and travel back to Israel. They are constantly using bicycles to travel, the only difficulty for them being the narrow village roads and driving uphill.
"We need to be well coordinated, but the drive requires a major physical effort too, especially when we are heading to higher grounds. Then it becomes most difficult. The roads are ok, when we drive the car drivers are kind, usually they would horn to outrun us. We have never been here and it's interesting for driving. You have very good wines, and we saw many wineries on the way here," Jara added.
The couple said they have tried Macedonian food, and they liked how it tastes, describing it as "an impressive flavor". The say they feel safe in Macedonia, and the bad weather is their only difficulty on the road, like last week, when it rained the entire day and the couple was trying to make it to Sveti Nikole and find accommodation there, but they failed and had to spend the night in a tent. However, they expect better weather in the next days.
