The number of tourists in Macedonia increases

The rare natural beauty, excellent location, numerous historic monuments, vast material and spiritual heritage of Macedonia attract more foreign tourists.



According to statistics, Macedonia was visited by 351,359 foreign tourists in 2012, and this figure rose to over 15 percent in 2013. The number of nights spent by foreign tourists in the country is also increased.

According to the travel agency “Generalturist”, Macedonia was visited by many tourists from Turkey in 2013.

Turkish tourists in Macedonia are mostly attracted by the capital Skopje. Turks, on average, spend more money in the country than any foreign tourists visiting Macedonia, according to “Generalturist”.

Macedonians in Turkey, however, frequently visit various coastal destinations, especially Antalya, Bodrum and Kusadasi offering excellent leisure and entertainment, or Pamukkale, Ephesus, Cappadocia and other exotic archaeological sites.
