Kriva Palanka has been selected the 2013 City of Culture, the Ministry of Culture has said.
"Kriva Palanka's programme contains specific, quality and diverse cultural content in all fields. Local institutions and associations will take part in the implementation of activities", said the Ministry.
The commission reviewing applications said Kriva Palanka's advantages lied in its location, good cooperation with Bulgaria, as well as the fact that events will be held in complex "St.Joakim Osogovski", aimed at stimulating cultural tourism in the region.
Kriva Palanka takes over from Kocani, who held title City of Culture in 2012.
