The Agency for Tourism Promotion and Support presented Macedonia at the Brussels Holiday Fair (Vakantiesalon), with a number of Belgian tour-operators showing interest for the country as a possible destination.
"We had meetings with several Belgian tour-operators regarding their interest to operate in Macedonia. Besides JetAir, two other companies from the Flemish and Wallonia regions will bring tourists to Macedonia. Moreover, a big Belgian TV station will shoot a documentary on the country's beauties, culture, tradition. I believe these efforts by the Agency and the Brussels-based Embassy will result in a significant rise in the number of Belgian tourists over the coming years", said economic promoter in Belgium, Krenar Bektesi.
Agency for Tourism Promotion and Support director Jordan Trajkov said targeted strategy would yield results.
"We will also have to work on tourism support in order to improve and enlarge offer of tourism products, such as marking and mapping of mountain tracks, e-market for renting of villas and apartments in resorts, as well as opening of caravan parks", added Trajkov.
Ambassador to Belgium Lazar Elenovski voiced conviction that Macedonia's promotion as a travel destination at the Brussels fair was a good way to enhance the country's tourism.
"We need continual promotion in order to bring Macedonia's tourism potential closer to Belgian tourists", added Ambassador Elenovski. i
