Eurocontrol: Air traffic organisation in Macedonia is excellent

Macedonia is demonstrating excellent results in air traffic flow and organisation, Eurocontrol's Director General Frank Brenner said on Thursday.

"In the past five years there was no standstill in the capacity and flow in Macedonia's air space. I would congratulate on the positive results since there were no incidents in the safety and security in air traffic," Brenner stated after meeting with the Director General of the Civil Aviation Agency, Dejan Mojsoski.

The fact that he is visiting Macedonia only a month after assuming office shows how significant Macedonia's air space is for Eurocontrol, according to him.

Asked about the price of flights charged by the Macedonian Air Naviation (M-NAV), he said the country operated in compliance with the strict rules for calculating flight costs, which were applied by all 39 Eurocontrol member countries.

"Your country abides by these rules without an exception. Any changes to the calculations must be in line with Eurocontrol regulations. The amount of traffic taking place in a country depends on the air routes," the Eurocontrol Director General said.

Brenner and Mojsoski discussed ways to further advance air traffic, regulations enabling to join the Single European Sky, growth in air traffic as well as future projects.

"We've had an excellent meeting with Director General Brenner where I presented the general picture of Macedonia's air navigation and our determination to integrate into the Single European Sky," Mojsoski stated.
