More Foreigners visiting Macedonia...

The 6.4-percent growth shows that Macedonian tourism is developing successfully. In the first five months of 2011, Macedonia was visited by some 190,000 tourists. Out of that, there were 106,000 foreign and 86,000 Macedonian tourists. This represents an increase in the number of foreign tourists by 20 percent.

"Experts suggest that we should follow the trends from the neighbouring countries and they say that regional cooperation is important. All foreign tourists should be offered packages that Macedonia’s neighbours offer," said Fatmir Besimi, Macedonian minister of economy.

The number of tourists in Macedonia is expected to grow in the future and the country will become ever more attractive as a tourist destination. For the time being, prices of services need to go down and service quality needs to be improved.
