November Rains Put Water Levels at Lake Dojran Above Average

Abundant rainfall during November lifted water levels in lake Dojran well above the average for this part of the year.

Two days after the nearly nonstop November rains ended, readings found that Dojran sustained 150 liters of rain per square meter, raising the lake water level up 10 centimeters.

The lake, which was nearly dried out due to irresponsible irrigation techniques used on its eastern, Greek end, has seen steady increase in water levels over the past years. Macedonia constructed a pipeline to transport spring water into the lake, that helped reverse the ecologic disaster.
