Continued growth of passengers on both domestic airports. In July a record number of passengers or growth of 28 percents annually, informed “TAV Macedonia”.
In July 2015 the number of passengers was increased by 28% annually, compared to July 2014, or if last July the Macedonian airports had 144,784 passengers in July this year the number of passengers was 185,811.
-In the period from January to July 2015, the number of passengers was increased by 17% from 704,563 passengers in the first seven months of 2014 to 823,492 passengers in the first seven months of 2015, according to the “TAV Macedonia”.
Statistics show that since the company took over the active management of airports, passenger numbers significantly increased, introduced new lines, quality of service is worldwide.
If we compare the number of passengers in the period before TAV enter in the game, we come to striking data. In the first half of 2009, the total number of passengers was 270,249, while in the first six months of 2015, the number of passengers was 637,681.
Annually, the growth was over 75% for both airports. Turkish holding company took over management of the airport in 2010. Since then, the number of passengers the airport has increased by 76.7%, in absolute figures, from 684,905 passengers in 2010 to 1,210,509 passengers in 2014.
In the first six months of the year was registered growth of 6.4 percents in the field of air operations. From January to June 6739 there were take-offs and landings at the airports. The most common destination is Istanbul with participation of 15.6% in total traffic, followed by Zurich, Vienna, Basel, Malmö and London.
Out of the total number of passengers, 56.6% were carried by low-cost airlines, which is clear indication that the cheapest tickets and subsidized flights significantly increased opportunities for air travel in the country. In offer from Skopje entered Barcelona, Oslo, Nuremberg, Hamburg and Friedrichshafen, plus London and Basel from Ohrid.
Airport is in the top 10 in Eastern Europe, according to research by the respected British organization “Skytrax”. They polled more than 13 million people who should be deciding between 550 airports divided into different categories. They took into account all aspects of arrival, transfers, shopping experience to safety issues.
