'Panphys 2012' begins

Performance "Exceptions to Gravity" of Avner Eisenberg from the United States marks the opening of the fifth international festival of mime and physical theatre "Panphys 2012" in the Macedonian Opera and Ballet on Tuesday evening.

Festival director Trajce Georgiev said at a press conference the event has managed to satisfy the taste of the wider audience interested in this theatre genre.

The festival's second evening includes a workshop by Avner Eisenberg and renowned German duo Bodecker & Neander with performance "Deja-Vu?".

"This is classic mime and the audience will have the opportunity to see the essence of mime", stressed Georgiev.

On Thursday, Mimoteatro Escobar-Lerchundi from Argentina will perform "Mimos en Accion", whereas debates and a DVD promotion will be held on Friday.

The festival will close with Saturday's performance "The Collector" of M Studio Movement Theatre from Romania.

The festival jury, comprised of actress Zvezdana Angelovska, actor Darko Velic and dramatist Darko Spasov, will select the best play at this year's Panphys.

The Ministry of Culture has provided the budget for this year's festival in the amount of Denar 350,000 (EUR 6,000).
