blu-express, the Italian LCC owned by Blue Panorama Airlines, has started twice-weekly flights from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Skopje (SKP) in Macedonia. Flights operate Thursday and Sunday and depart Rome at 11:00. Competition will soon be provided by Belle Air Europe which plans to start twice-weekly services of its own from 15 December, also operating on Thursdays and Sundays, departing Rome at 17:20. Skopje’s “Alexander the Great” Airport has attracted a number of new services this year including; airberlin from Düsseldorf and Zurich; Belle Air Europe from Ancona and Venice; Pegasus Airlines from Istanbul and Izmir; and Wizz Air launching flights to London Luton and Venice Treviso. Last year the airport handled around 600,000 passengers.
