Air Berlin and Pegasus to Fly to Macedonia

Two budget airliners - German AirBerlin and Turkish Pegasus Airlines – will have regular flights from Skopje as of this summer. This way, the competition in the Macedonian skies stiffens, following the arrival of Wizzair.

AirBerlin will connect Skopje and Düsseldorf once a week as of July 16, while Pegasus will have three flights a week between Skopje and Istanbul as of August, as a direct competition to Turkish Airlines. Izmir will be its other destination in Turkey.

Director of the Macedonian Civil Aviation Agency Dejan Mojsovski expects this to increase competition and further the trend of reducing prices in air transport. For the first time, Macedonia will also get ten new airline companies that will mostly operate charter flights to the destinations such as Amsterdam, Venice or Zurich.
