Railway stations will be reconstructed according to EU standards

Start of the project for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and upgrading of railway stations along the Pan-European Corridor 10, including 10-D branch in Macedonia, according to the best practices in the European Union.



Today the website of the European Commission published announcement in which are required companies for directly implementation of the project.


The project objective is to improve the overall quality of service for passengers and cargo shipping, raising technical standards and capabilities of 10 rail stations located on the corridor 10 and 10-D branch in Macedonia. For this purpose, it is anticipated renovation and upgrade of all major elements of the railway stations, such as water and electricity installation – including internal and external lighting, sanitation, installation of heating and cooling systems for fire protection, passenger information system, and improve accessibility for freight transport, accessibility, and connectivity to road transport (public and individual).

Special attention in the implementation of this project will address the improvement of accessibility for persons with reduced mobility.

Within the project, among others will be completely replaced roofs, floors, refurbishment of facades and interior walls, will be installed new thermal insulation and build new toilets which would be use used by people with disabilities. At the plateau in front of the railway station from street side is provided access and for the plateau security it is  scheduled to be paved with tactile warning strip on the edges.

The project for rehabilitation, upgrading and reconstruction will cover railway stations in Veles, Prilep, Bitola, Gevgelija, Bogomila, Chaska, Tabanovce, Demir Kapija, Gradsko, and Negotino – Vardar.

Deadline for submission offers by the interested companies is September 30, 2014 12.00 hrs.
