Hoteliers Association of Macedonia – HOTAM requires competent institutions low-cost airlines operating in Macedonia to fly at least twice week from Ohrid Airport to any European destination.
- Our request to the municipal councils of Struga and Ohrid and the competent institutions in recent years to continue negotiations low-cost airlines operating in Macedonia and to reach at least two flights per week to any European destination to be under the Ohrid. All of us will get a lot with this, the airport will get a job, but also hotel and private accommodation and individuals will have greater opportunity themselves to manage the arrangements, said the president of HOTAM Doncho Taneski.
According to him, it is necessary two out of the 14 destinations that are served by low-cost companies from Skopje to resume flights to Ohrid.
- Out of those 14 destinations one is to Berlin, for example Berlin flight will continue to Ohrid, Berlin – Skopje – Ohrid and vice versa. If we survey the market because the Ohrid Airport gravitates towards one part of the Republic of Albania, i.e. cities Korcha, Pogradec, Elbasan after certain period we can say that the line to Ohrid is economically worthwhile, Tanevski said.
Hoteliers from Struga noted that Struga is not enough promoted as a tourist destination.
- Struga is always in the background of Ohrid, i.e. it is not sufficiently promoted, said Vice President of HOTAM and owner of hotel in Struga, Krste Blazheski.
President of HOTAM Taneski noted that they received comments from members of the Board that this year the promotion of Dojran, Oteshevo, Krushevo, and Ohrid is greater than for Struga and Mavrovo.
