TAV Macedonia: Skopje Airport to introduce a direct flight to Geneva as of April 2015
Skopje Alexander the Great Airport operated by TAV Macedonia, gets ready to expand its destination network with Swiss International Air Lines’ Geneva flights. ‘Alexander the Great’ will be connected to Geneva in Switzerland by SWISS International Air Lines direct reciprocal flights as of April next year. Geneva will be the third destination in Switzerland that the Skopje Airport has an air connection with, in addition to Zurich and Basel.
-We welcome the decision taken by SWISS Airlines to start flying again between Geneva and Skopje as of April. This is good news not only for our distinguished passengers, but also for our immigrants in Switzerland, as well as for the business community in both countries. In turn this will also increase the tourism exchange, stated Zoran Krstevski, TAV Macedonia General Manager.
The first flight from Skopje to Geneva is scheduled for April 4th, 2015, according to Skopje Airport’s summer timetable. SWISS will operate flights on this route from Alexander the Great on every Saturday at 18:20. For the summer season, SWISS will serve Skopje-Geneva flights two times a week, on Tuesday and Saturday.
Director of SWISS Austria and Central Eastern Europe Bernhard Wodl said “We are pleased to be able to reply positively to the growing demand for travel between Macedonia and Switzerland and to launch a new service from Skopje Alexander the Great to Geneva.”
Skopje Alexander the Great Airport will, expectedly, add new destinations to its network next year in addition to increased frequency of the existing routes, as well as improvement of the overall services offered at both airports.
SWISS representatives state that the flight tickets between Skopje-Geneva-Skopje will be bookable by mid-January on swiss.com as well as via travel agencies.
