The first group of 189 tourists from the Netherlands arrived early Friday with a charter-flight from Amsterdam to Ohrid.
The guests were greeted with traditional Macedonian food, beverages and music, arranged by the Netherlands Embassy to Skopje, in cooperation with the Ohrid and Struga local authorities, Dutch tour-operator "Corendon" and Macedonian partner "Fibula Air Travel".
Dutch Ambassador Simone Filippini and Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski welcomed the tourists.
"I am very happy to see you here in the traditional orange shirts, but I hope to see you in other Macedonian towns too. We will do everything in our power to give you an unforgettable stay in our country, so that you urge your friends to come here next year. Dutch tourists are traditional guests in Macedonia. Although there was a standstill, we hope that your arrival will mark the start of your renewed presence here", said Pesevski.
The Dutch tourists, who were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming, said they do not know much about Ohrid, except for the wonderful lake, but believe this unknown will be a magnet for others to come and discover Macedonia.
