Macedonian capital Skopje ranked 13th on the list of most affordable tourism destinations in the world, prepared by the GoEuro.com web site. The index ranks 150 cities based on the affordability of accommodation, in hotels, hostels and private accommodation such as through the AirBnB web site.
Skopje ranked among the 15 most affordable destinations, which include a number of other Balkan capitals. Tirana, the capital of Albania, is on the top of the list, Bulgarian capital Sofia is third, Bucharest is seventh and Belgrade ranked ninth.
New York leads the other end of the list, as the most expensive place to get accommodation in.
