World Tourism Organization Secretary-General To Visit Macedonia

The World Tourism Organization Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai, as of today until July 30, is to stay in an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.

Rifai arrives in Macedonia on the invitation of the country’s foreign minister, Nikola Poposki, whom he is expected to meet with on Tuesday. Rifai is also to meet with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski who will be handed over an open letter from the WTO’s "Global Tourism Leaders" campaign, which calls the chiefs of states and governments to promote the values of tourism as part of its improvement and development efforts.

Secretary-General Rifai will hold several meetings with representatives of the competent institutions working in the area of tourism. He is also expected to visit Ohrid, where he is to meet the deputy mayor, Angel Janev.


The Chamber of Tourism of Macedonia and Rifai will sing the WTO's Private Sector Commitments to the Global Tourism Etiquette Code.
