Macedonian Hoteliers: Trip Advisor’s Praise Brings Tourists to Macedonia


There is no better advertisement for us than good reviews on the most famous tourist informing page "Trip Advisor", say the managers of the mainstay "Villa Vodno" from Skopje, which ranks first place according to reviews by foreign tourists, Telegraf.mk reads.

The managers also add that the good reviews on Trip Advisor have a really positive influence on their popularity among foreign visitors and gives the tourists a confidence that the Villa is the best place for accommodation in Skopje.

And the managers of the small hotel "Kapishtec" in Skopje, which is ranked seventh according the reviews on "Trip Advisory", say good criticism on a worldwide tourist informing service means a lot for their work.


"Many people read this portal, the real tourists. Online criticism really have impacted the number of tourists interested to book a stay with us, especially in these recent years, since we started working with  online booking pages, booking and as venere," said Darko Darchevski, one of the owners of the hotel "Kapishtec".

Telegraf.mk also contacted managers of some of the hotels in Ohrid, which accommodate mainly foreign tourists, to ask them about the influence the online-reviews have on their work.

Pere Kutanovski, director of four star Hotel "Granit" has said that the hotel management and the staff are doing their best to enable the tourists a nice stay in Ohrid, and that they afterwards always get positive reviews.

"Of course our guests read the reviews on "Trip Advisor" and other similar sites. We are doing our best to ensure their satisfaction, but we have no control over what they write on Trip Advisor. Internet today is available to everyone, so everyone can write what they want. The most of the reviews are positive, and if we see that we have made a mistake, we work to fix it,” says Kutanovski.

The management of Hotel Gorica in Ohrid has said that the online reviews are of a great importance for the reputation of the hotel, and that this is the best way for the tourist to have a greater insight on the category of the hotel as well as other questions related to accommodation and service. The hotel’s receptionist Goce Taseski also says that the increased international advertising of Macedonia and the campaign “Visit Macedonia” have attracted visitors from all the corners of the world.

Trip Advisor has enlisted 4 hotels in Struga, and 3 hotels and one mainstay in Dojran.

Trip Advisor is an online tourist informing portal on which tourists share their travelling experiences and write reviews on hotels, cafes, restaurants and other places they visit.
