Nearly one million passengers last year passed through “Alexander the Great”

Istanbul, Vienna, Zurich, London, and Malmo are the last year’s five destinations where most Macedonians were traveling from Skopje airport “Alexander the Great”.



Most passengers are transported by “Wizair”, followed by “Turkish Airlines”, “Austrian Airlines” and “Pegasuz”.

This was stated at a press conference at TAV Macedonia, at which was pointed out that last year there was an increase in the number of passengers by 20 percent and figure of 984 407 passengers was reached.

- Since 2010, the number of passengers is increased by 44 percents. In the last three years we have noted an average growth of 10 percent, and the highest average growth in Europe is five percent, said Alper Ersoy Tungaj, Deputy Director of TAV Macedonia.

According to general director Zoran Krstevski, the increase was due to new destinations and government policies to subsidize.

For this year TAV Macedonia has announced new direct flights from Skopje to Paris to Cologne, Frankfurt, Brussels, and Rome.

- 2013 has been successful not only in the number of passengers, but safety and security of aviation, said Krstevski.

Skopje airport “Alexander the Great”, according to Krstevski in 2013 for the second time is announced for the best airport in Europe in the category up to 2 million passengers. According to management, it is confirmation that the services are among the most professional. In the competition, in this category participated, 250 airports worldwide.
