Macedonia focuses on tourism

Macedonia has a lot of natural potential for all kinds of tourism, but has not been paying attention to tourism. Since starting to take notice, it has already starting to see first results stated Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in response to a question after visiting Doyran along with Director General of JSC ELEM Dejan Boškovski.
- I am glad that in March this year the number of tourists in Macedonia increased by 7.5 percent over the same month of 2012, while the number of overnight stays rose by 10.2 percent. These are serious trends of increasing number of tourists who come alone with him, but due to the many activities of the government and a lot of work, commitment and implemented projects to increase tourism offer, said Gruevski.

He said that the government in the past invested in new beaches in Ohrid, Doiran and elsewhere, improve tourist facilities in other cities, in rural and mountain tourism. Improve road infrastructure and allow construction of hotels on land sold for one euro per square meter. This, he said, allowed to build hotels, "measured", "Hilton" and "Ibis" and soon added, and announced the construction of other hotels known franchise brands.

It was found that when attention is drawn to tourism and the results come, and the constant increase in the number of tourists and nights is just one of the indicators that things are moving in the right direction, said Gruevski.
